Today, I learned a lesson of life.
I was invited to two events today. One is a lecturer meeting and one is a network meeting. Both are crucial because, one is pretty much talking about commitment and one about supporting my friends' event. I went to the lecturer meeting since I have to get on top of what's the meeting about. There are many things twinking in my mind such as, "am I gonna get a raised? " (damn, it's a wishful thinking for an ordinary lecturer) or "am I gonna get any money out of this meeting?" (gosh, it's soo indonesian way of thinking).
Hey, I am an ordinary lecturer in this land once called the tiger of the South East Asian, and yes, I am a happy Indonesian who is always thinking with the Indonesian's point of view. There's nothing wrong or weird about that. Though I hope for the best and the best is always win with the idiom "udah untung.." idiom.
I registered myself and voilaa...I am in the room of other 50 Indonesians who thinks like I am and probably wish the same star like I am. Instead of lecturing. I am being lectured with all the regulars discipline and rules of thumbs of the next semester of the university. I am not surprised though I am more curious about the event after which is the eating .
What touches me is the empty expression covered with hopes and the energy of the people surround me. They are a true noble or a fake player, I really don't care. However, I care about why they are still here with the same hopes and dreams to "educate" ourselves (read: to comfort ourselves) with our choices we made becoming a lecturer.
I hope somewhere in this journey, I will seek the answer and be the winner at heart..
Cheers and chayoo to all lecturer..and have a blast with your idealism in the following semester.....
